Evelyn trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She completed further educational training with the Royal Shakespeare Company, where she co-designed a series of workshops titled Shakespeare and Race alongside Professor Ayanna Thompson.
She has facilitated workshops and classes at numerous universities and colleges, including Harvard, Wellesley, Vassar, Notre Dame, UCLA, and UT Austin.
In partnership with the Playground Theatre, Evelyn has led writing and play-reading groups for service users on the mental health ward of St. Charles Hospital in London, as well as for the charities Age UK and Open Age.
