Jackie is a movement specialist whose career spans performance, teaching, and choreography across theatre, film, and television. After qualifying as a ballet dancer and teacher, she performed with the Gymnastic Dance Theatre Company before training in Movement for Actors with Trish Arnold and in Period Dance with Sue Lefton at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
She taught Movement at Guildhall for 20 years and was Head of Movement at RADA for 8 years, later becoming Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University. Jackie has also taught at Drama Centre, LAMDA, Mountview, Rose Bruford, Central School of Speech and Drama, and the University of Northampton, as well as internationally in China and the United States.
As Master of Movement at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, she worked for three seasons with Mark Rylance. Her theatre credits include The Cherry Orchard (Donmar Warehouse), Love’s Labour’s Lost (Rose Theatre, Kingston, dir. Peter Hall), Burial at Thebes (Barbican, Nottingham Playhouse, US Tour), and Uncle Vanya (Donmar Warehouse, dir. Sam Mendes).
Jackie’s screen work includes Marie Antoinette (Sofia Coppola), The New World (Terrence Malick), The Lost Prince (Stephen Poliakoff), Quills (Philip Kaufman), and Boys Will Be Girls (Channel 4). She is the author of Movement Training for Actors (Methuen Drama) and a contributor to The Guardian.
