Mick Barnfather has worked in theatre as an actor, director, and teacher. He has been a member of Complicite since 1986 and has appeared in six of their productions: Food Stuff, Please please please, The Visit (National Theatre), The Chairs (West End & Broadway), The Three Lives of Lucie Cabrol and Light.
His other theatre credits include Mr. Puntilla and His Man Matti (West End), The Dove (Croydon Warehouse), Special Offer (Young Vic), Trouble in Paradise and The End of the Tunnel directed by Philippe Gaulier.
His television work includes roles in Bramwell, The Bill, Pie in the Sky, Peak Practice, Peter and the Wolf and Burning Ambition (BBC/Complicite), as well as various radio and short film projects.
As a director, Mick has worked with Peepolykus, Told by an Idiot, Pennydreadful, Wildheart & Lyric, Hoipolloi, Hot House Theatre, David Sant and Dan Lees to name a few.
Throughout his career, Mick has consistently taught theatre, concentrating mainly on his teaching during the last 20 years.. He has taught at the Commedia School (Copenhagen), Central School of Speech and Drama, Rose Bruford, Manchester Metropolitan University, the National Centre for Circus Arts, Florida State University’s London Program, RADA, Ecole Philippe Gaulier and Complicite. He has also given workshops, classes and courses in the US, Asia and Europe.
He has taught at BADA for over 30 years.
